First of all, many thanks to all those who were at
Balaia on the day, players and spectators. An unseasonably hot day
- 23º!) had one or two struggling by the end, but everyone stuck
it out to the conclusion
Possibly our last event at Balaia, a very well attended
and successful day of fun bowling saw a total of almost €250
raised for our charity, the local food bank. Six teams of triples
took part in a closely contested contest, with only six points
separating all six teams at the end. The winning trio were Alan
Camplin-Smith, Jill Dunkey and Joan Smith.
A lunch at the Wander Inn in town followed. The raffle
there raised €165 for the charity. The main prize winners were
Alan and Sue Avery. Added to that were €35 from the pre-match
spider, won by Don Cudmore, and €48.55 from the swear box
including donations for sale of birthday cards. Nearest the wine
winner was Helena Burke.
