Bowls Club Fund Raising EventsThe Albufeira Food Bank
this year asked specifically for personal hygiene items for the
adults and children on their books. Using some the €810 of funds
raised during the year, Brian and Pauline filled their car with
120Kilos weight in necessities that the Food Bank specifically
asked for. The Food Bank cannot help in the way they do without
charitable donations such as ours. Their thanks go to all club
members and others who have contributed in some way. There was
enough money left over to buy a fresh chicken and a bottle of wine
per family.The Food Bank said that rarely do they get fresh meat
and that the wine would be a nice treat.
A raffle held at our Christmas lunch on 22nd December
raised the splendid sum of €210 for the Food Bank. Thanks to all
who donated prizes.
On December 4th we went shopping with the proceeds from
the past few months of fund raising events, fines, swearboxes and
donations. A total of €399.19 was spent on items useful for the
food bank in general. After discussion with the organisers, a
further €202.59 was spent on Christmas items including small gifts
for the children on their books.
Our Remembrance Sunday Charity fun bowling event on
Sunday 12th November raised a total of €248,55 which will go
towards the big Christmas shop for the food bank, coming soon.
Thanks to our continued efforts in sending down a wrong
bias and the resulting cursing thereof and other misdeeds, plus
proceeds and donations at the Christmas Dinner raffle, the club
has made a purchases of almost €850 of necessary items for the
Albufeira Food Bank. Alan Camplin-Smith sent these pictures of the
well-laden trolley at Recheio on the first visit. Items included
chicken, sausages, cooking oil, long life milk, tuna, sardines,
sugar, flour, toiletries and cleaning products. Many thanks to all
and keep on sending down those wrong biases! As of 1st November
2023, the total raised under this heading is €1422.74 with the
remaining funds to be used before the club's financial year ends
on 31st March 2024.

We have donated €1,010.70 to the official Portuguese fund for Ukranian war relief. This came about from various activities during the latter part of the year, including individual donations, raffles at various events and fines for wrong bias etc!
We are pleased to show
members those items purchased for the children's home A Gaivota a
few weeks ago. A change of management did cause a bit of a wait,
but the funds we were holding were used to purchase the items
pictured below.

In 2018 €1,000 was raised for the Bombeiros (local fire
brigade) through a mixture of fund raisers, donations and
fines.
They used this to purchase laptops and GPS tracker equipment.
The major event in 2019 was held to the children's home and
orphanage 'A Gaivota' here in Albufeira.

Sadly, all fund raising events planned for 2020 and most for
2021 had to be cancelled.
